Math Multipliers Series: Math Policy – State Levers

Audience: PIE Network Leaders

Given the alarming state of student achievement in math, Network members are taking action to improve math outcomes. As a part of the PIE Network Math Multipliers series, this session will focus on actions advocates can take on a state level to impact math outcomes. We’ll hear from Marissa Payzant, Allyson DenBeste, and Bridgette Stevens (Nebraska Department of Education), who will share about the comprehensive approach Nebraska has taken to drive improvements in student math achievement. We will also hear from Corinn O’Brien (A+ Education Partnership), who will tell the story of the Alabama Numeracy Act and what implementation looks like. Christy Hovanetz (ExcelinEd) will give a deep dive into model legislative language, and Mark Sass (Teach Plus CO) will share updates and lessons from Colorado as well as moderate the discussion.
