Patrick Sims

Patrick brings a decade of experience in education research, strategy, and partnership development. He has extensive experience working across political ideologies to support state leaders on equity-focused education policy that will empower every student to realize their full potential. Prior to joining the PIE Network, Patrick served as the Director of Policy & Research at The Hunt Institute. In this role, Patrick led a team who conducted K-12 and postsecondary research and supported policymakers through programs such as the Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows, state legislators retreats, and postsecondary leadership programs. Previously, Patrick worked as a researcher at UNC-Chapel Hill, Tulane University’s Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives in New Orleans, LA., and the National Council on Teacher Quality. He also taught for two years in Poland and has worked for the U.S. Department of Education, the Council on Foreign Relations, and Wake County (NC) Public Schools. Patrick is a graduate of Appalachian State University and received his Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University.
