Melissa brings over a decade of experience in education policy, with a focus on college and career pathways and innovative options. Prior to joining the PIE network, Melissa was a Program Officer for the Walton Family Foundation, where she built and managed grantmaking portfolios on a variety of issues, including new school creation and postsecondary success. She led all new school grantmaking with a focus on innovative schools and worked in partnership with other partner funders to launch new state communities of practice. Previously, she worked at Education Strategy Group, partnering with states and districts to build alignment between K-12, postsecondary and workforce systems. Melissa began her career in the classroom, later working for the School District of Philadelphia and the Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity. Melissa received a B.A. from The College of William and Mary and a M.S.Ed in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.

When I'm not at Work
I'm treasure hunting at the thrift store, going to the gym, spending time with my family and friends and continuing my personal sidequest for the Philly area’s best bagel.
