Jennifer Alexander

For nearly 30 years, Jen has worked at the national, state, and local levels at the intersection of education policy, research, politics, philanthropy, and practice to ensure every student in every community gets the education needed to thrive. Jen has deep experience bringing diverse perspectives together to find common ground, setting organizational strategy, and fundraising. As PIE Network Executive Director, Jen leads efforts to support, connect, and catalyze the work of local, state, and national education policy advocacy organizations across the US who represent students, families, educators, business and civic leaders, researchers, and policy experts working to transform our education system so that every student can succeed. Network members are nonpartisan in ideas and cross-partisan in approach, providing a consistent, evidence-based, and credible public voice in education policymaking. Before joining PIE Network in 2019, Jen served as CEO of ConnCAN, a pacesetting model of effective state-level education advocacy. She began her career in Washington, DC, working in policy, research, and nonprofit leadership at the American Federation of Teachers and the American Institutes for Research. She has spoken across the US and appeared in numerous news outlets. Jen is a graduate of George Peabody College at Vanderbilt University and holds a Master of Public Policy from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. She serves on the Board of Directors of Achievement First Amistad Academy, a public charter school in New Haven. Jen lives in Connecticut, and her most important title is Mom to her two daughters.

What I Do

When I'm not at Work

I'm happiest entertaining friends and family, being outdoors, walking our goofy dog, gardening, or enjoying the New England coast, especially on a sailboat!
