Chalkboard Project is an independent nonprofit aiming to move Oregon’s public schools into the top ten nationwide. To raise the achievement level of Oregon students, we believe the first step is assuring there is an effective teacher in every classroom. Another is to create a more engaged public that understands the tough choices and tradeoffs required to build strong schools. Chalkboard develops and funds programs for school districts that support great teaching, improve operational efficiency, and provide taxpayers with transparent reports on how schools spend public money. We support effective educators with web resources on professional development and beginning educator mentoring. We also advocate for greater stability in the way schools are funded by the state.
