The Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) was founded in 1993 at the University of Washington. CRPE conducts independent research and policy analysis to improve America's schools. Our work is based on two premises: that public schools should be measured against the goal of educating all children well, and that current institutions too often fail to achieve this goal.
CRPE studies how changes in governance, finance, regulation, staffing, and leadership can contribute to effective teaching and learning. We engage in a broad and fair look at all options, and formulate alternatives that challenge structures and practices that stand in the way of student success. CRPE hopes to create new possibilities for parents, educators, and community leaders.
